Purpose:

Create a safe community in which to live, play, and work

Mission:

Our mission is to prevent injury, disability, and death through advocacy, education, legislation, and partnerships

Goals:

  1. Reduce injury incidence by building community awareness about injury prevention
  2. Establish priorities for the Injury Prevention Coalition based on relevance, scientific soundness, and feasibility to reduce injury incidence
  3. Secure resources needed to carry out the Injury Prevention Coalition's mission
  4. Expand and strengthen the Injury Prevention Coalition

Board Members Lee County Injury Prevention Coalition:

Chairperson: Syndi Bultman, R.N.,M.S., CEN.

Injury Prevention/Resource Manager Emergency Services, LMHS

Syndi Bultman has been an R.N. for the past 23 years, the last 17 of which have been working in the Emergency Department at Lee Memorial Health System. This extensive Emergency Department experience allowed her to see first-hand the devastation of preventable injuries and led her to her current role of providing injury prevention education to all age groups in Lee County and the surrounding areas. Her responsibilities include coordinating her injury prevention efforts with those of the Lee County Health Department, Emergency Medical Services, and local Law Enforcement agencies.

Vice-Chairperson: Dan Moser

Dan is a long-time promoter of pedestrian and cyclist rights and bike/ped educator. He is the Program Manager for Florida Bicycle Association (FBA) and a League Cycling Instructor (LCI) for the League of American Bicyclists, Bike Florida, and Lee County EMS. Previously he was the Bike/Ped Coordinator for the Lee County Health Department. Since the early 1980s Dan served on many transportation, transit, and bike/ped boards and committees and is a past-president of Fort Myers Track Club. He and his wife, Maria, are avid runners and cyclists.

Jay Anderson

Executive Director, Stay Alive …. Just Drive!

Traffic safety professional Jay Anderson, is the executive director of STAY ALIVE …. JUST DRIVE! ™ A U.S. Army veteran and retired Lee County, FL, EMS Captain, he serves as a Fire Commissioner with the South Trail Fire District, is vice-chair of the Lee County Community Traffic Safety Team (CTST), and sits on the Board of Directors for the Lee County Injury Prevention Coalition (IPC). He is also a member of the American Trauma Society (ATS), the Traffic Intervention Management Team (TIM), the Hwy 27 Safety Task Force and the American Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association (ADTSEA). Recognized by U.S DOT Secretary Ray LaHood, Anderson writes articles regarding the dangers of distracted driving for numerous publications and is an instructor for the Lee Memorial Health System Trauma Services Young Drivers Program and the court ordered High Risk Drivers Course.

Dave Kainrad

David Kainrad has served Lee County Public Safety/EMS for 27 years. His experience includes being co-chair of the IPC with Glenda Wolnik for several years.David has been instrumental in the continued success of the IPC and his most recent endeavor has been extensive mission work in India. He has been married 26 years and has two daughters.

Board Members for Safe Kids - Lee County:

Chairperson: Michele King
- Director, Child Advocacy Program
Michele is the director of the Child Advocacy Program at The Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida that includes three major areas of focus: Unintentional Injury Prevention, Child Abuse Prevention and Health Education. Also under her direction at the Child Advocacy Program are the Child Life Program, Music Therapy Program, and the Hospital School Program. She and the hospital are committed to achieving lasting improvements in lives of our community’s children and families.

Vice-Chairperson: Alise Flanjack
– Program Manager, Lee County Dept. Parks and Recreation
Alise Flanjack is one of the few people who was born and raised in Lee County. Needless to say she has a love for the area and for the past 21 years she has been employed with Lee County Parks & Recreationfocusing mostly inAquatics, but involved in all aspects of water safety.Since the Injury Prevention Coalition’s inception she has been a strong, consistent supporter of the issues and activities of the coalition.

Kim Herrmann
Kim is a CPS Certification Specialist with Safe Kids Worldwide certification department. She is primarily responsible for assisting State Farm Course Grants and Reunions or technical updates. She has been a child passenger safety technician instructor since 2001 and a Certified Health Education Specialist since 1993.

Brad Pollins
Brad is the System Director of Organizational Effectiveness at Lee Memorial Health System and he has 22 years of experience in consulting, primarily focused on organizational development, change management, and business transformation. He has worked for and with several companies in providing change solutions including: Lee Memorial Health System, Ernst & Young, Accenture, Chick-fil-A, BellSouth, Milliken & Company, Ford, Northeast Utilities, Southern Company, MCI, Atlanta Gas Light Company, Aetna, London Life, Cigna, Home Depot, and Coca-Cola. Brad has also been a Chairperson and guest speaker at many national conferences and served as an adjunct faculty member of the University of St. Francis. Mr. Pollins has a Master’s degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Central Florida. He earned a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Psychology from the Florida State University.
